Xiaomi's Mi 4 flagship is due for a refresh sooner rather than later, as it's nearing the 12-month retirement age. An image, which popped up on Weibo, claims to detail its specs, as well as those of the companion Plus model to go along with the regular Mi 5.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is reported to boast a 5.2-inch QHD LCD display, protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and featuring 2.5D edges. Computing power will come from a Snapdragon 810 chipset, though the amount of RAM remains unknown.

Despite it's best known for manufacturing smartphones and a whole bunch of other gadgets and appliances, we shouldn't forget that Xiaomi began as an Android firmware developer - its MIUI, a custom UI that adorns Android with a large amount of added features. MIUI is powering all of Xiaomi's phones right now, and its current version, MIUI 6, can be found on its newest and top-end devices, like the Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note/Note Pro, and several others.

Since the first Mi device and my good old Samsung Note, I've been waiting for a Mi Note device. A half year ago I decided to test the RedMi Note 4g, only to try a Mi device, to see if a Mi device could be my Daily driver. And I was defently surprised about the quality of this low budget phone. As the Mi Note was announced, there wasn't any more any reason to not buy this device which I waited for so long.

Xiaomi may have unveiled the high-end Mi Note and Mi Note Pro this January, but those are both phablets. When it comes to a 'normal size' flagship offering, the Chinese company still relies on the Mi 4, which was announced in July 2014.
So a new top of the line device from Xiaomi (in a more pocketable form factor) is clearly going to arrive in the next few weeks or months. In fact, according to some new rumors out of China, we may see two Mi 5 flagships instead of one - the Mi 5 and the Mi 5 Plus.
